Another great event. Slow Food Berkeley and Finlandia Vodka brought famed Finnish/American Chef Sara La Fountain to the table for a culinary experience focused on sustainability and the principles of Slow Food. The Cooking with Finlandia Vodka events were held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, July 19 at Fairmont San Francisco, located at 950 Mason Street. 100 percent of ticket sales will be donated directly to the Slow Food Berkeley.

Last June, a couple dozen of us gathered for a grandfather workshop led by Arrigo Benedetti, who demonstrated how people from his home region of Emilia-Romagna use green walnuts to make a liqueur known as nocino (the name comes from noce, the Italian word for walnut). Arrigo is back to reprise his demonstration on two separate occasions, this time with some examples of nocino made commercially in Italy, as well as the homemade version he made last year.
